"Duplicate content" is not a good thing on the web. Since search engines are able to crawl pretty much everything that's on the web, they're able to identify when content on one page is the same as content on another page somewhere else. Whoever published the page first gets the credit for it, and the page that has the same content but is published later is typically penalized in search engines.

What does this mean for you?

Don't copy and paste content from another page. If you have a page about energy audits, but you copy and pasted the content from another site, your page probably won't show up in search engines. This is bad, because search engines are where you get a lot of the traffic to your site, and potentially a bunch of new customers.

Write your own content.

You can use other content as a basis for what you write, but be sure that the content on each of your pages is original. We recommend using the "ideas" gallery to give you a basis for writing a new web page -- pick a video, for example, and write just a couple sentences about why you like the video.

If you're using one of the standard pages on the Energy Circle PRO platform, we recommend tweaking it to make it your own. You can use the images, you can use the headlines, and you can use the bulk of the content - just be sure to make some modifications to add your personal touch and distinguish the page from others on the platform.
