Across the network of Energy Circle PRO websites for Home Performance contractors and other home energy pros, one consistent trend that we've noticed in the analytics data is that visitors tend to go straight to the "About Us" page after hitting the home page for any given site.
This makes sense: after all, an efficiency contractor that a homeowner hires will be digging around the nooks and crannies of their house, and they want someone they can trust. They also want to make sure the job is done right, so they're curious about who runs a given company, what motivates them, and how well-qualified they are.
Given this trend, we think it's absolutely crucial that your "About Us" page is a strong page that's representative of your company.
Consider adding:
- Photos - either of the entire team, or of the owner. The more the merrier.
- Certification information - BPI, HERS, LEED: whatever you got, show it off.
- Company philosophy - are you motivated to save the planet by reducing energy consumption, or just want to fix bad houses? Whatever motivates you, discuss it in your About page.
- A personal touch - what do you and your team members do in your off time? Hike, ski, listen to jazz? Adding a personal touch to your About page sends a powerful signal to potential customers that you're a real person, and a trustworthy person to put their house in the hands of.
